Brief history of the Texas walking stick The seeds
of my parent trees started in the earth of East and Central Texas Hill Country, or West Texas mountain ranges and scrub lands.
Growing up, I served as sanctuary for wild deer, turkey and other birds - perhaps even sheltered native Indians from the weather
and hid them from their enemies.
I am old now, but I was young when enterprising business people picked me out
along with thousands of others to harvest and transport by wagon, mule, train or truck to farmers, ranchers and auction barns.
There, we were sold to serve as silent sentries across the miles and acres of Texas land. Many of us remain, but most
have been replaced by treated wood, or steel posts.
I have stood solid over these many years, and will now stand
solid for you as you walk along, holding a bit of HISTORY in your hands.

This is to certify that your Historic Texas Walking Stick is, in fact, a genuine recycled heart-of-cedar fence post taken
from a Texas ranch, farm or property where it has served for nearly a century or longer to protect its owners’ fields,
livestock and possessions.
Or, that it has been taken from the limbs of trees that grew along these historic barbed-wire
fence lines for many decades, even 100 years or more.
A sure test of authenticity is to carefully examine your
Historic Texas Walking Stick for such artifacts as staples, nail heads, embedded wire or the holes they left after falling
out. Many of these collector’s sticks have been carefully shaped to maintain the presence of their historical influence,
and the scars from their service.
Created by God, shaped by nature and crafted by the hands of Earl Chessher, Sr.
who was born March 9, 1927, making him nearly as old as the Historic Texas Walking Sticks he carves.
